Snow began 3-5 am till late morning. Snowfall was then off and on for the remainder of the day. The majority of the accumulation occurred prior to noon. As less than inch fell during the afternoon and night. Snow diminished for good 8-10pm.. snow totals averaged

Chicago less than halfway through typical snow season
Going into Tuesday's snowfall, Chicago's 2010-11 snow season tally of 16.8 inches ranked 35th snowiest of the past 126. Still, it lagged last year's 28.3 inch total by nearly a foot (11.5 inches).
Snow records dating back to 1884-85 here show that 37 percent of Chicago's seasonal snow has typically fallen through Jan. 10 leaving 63 percent to go.

The lake effect snow machine was turned on during the evening hours on the 25th. The snow dropped down from the Racine and Kenosha Counties of Wisconsin into Lake, eastern McHenry, northwest Cook Counties between 6-8pm.
The snow band slowly shift further southward during the night before slowly Shriveling up during the morning on the 26th. The trajectory carried the heaviest snow into
