Schiller Park
Schiller Park Snow Removal Q: When does the Village plow or salt the streets? A: The Village decides whether to plow and/or salt the streets based on a variety of factors including the current weather conditions and the weather forecast. In order to plow there needs to be 2" or more of snow but lesser storms might result in road salt application. The Village is committed to keeping all of our streets safe and passable. Q: Does the Village offer snow removal assistance to senior citizens? A: Yes, the Village has a program for seniors where the Village arranges for a private contractor to remove the snow from a senior's driveway, frontwalk, and/or public sidewalk after a snowfall of 3" or more. To be eligibile for the program you need: (1) to be a senior (65 or older), (2) have a note from your Doctor indicating you are not able to engage in snow removal, and (3) have no one else living in the home that able to do the snow removal to be eligible for the program. The deadline for signing up for the program is the end of October each year. Please keep in mind that the private contractors hired to do the work often do so at night. The cost is $15.00 per occurrence for the driveway, $5.00 for your frontwalk, and an additional $5.00 for your public sidewalk. Therefore to do all three areas would cost the senior $25.00 total per snowfall. The Village will bill you for the snow removal by mail. If you are interested in signing up for the program please contact the Village Hall at (847) 678-2550 or click here to view and/or download the signup materials.
