STORM SUMMARY 2-24 INTO 25th-10
Light snow spread over the area between 7-9 am on the 24th and the snow continued through midnight. Heaviest snowfall occurred from northwest Illinois to DeKalb and La Salle Counties where amounts were mainly in the 4-6 inch range. This was a long duration light snow event. Snow diminished from north to south across the area between 1-3 am on the 25th. Surfaces in the Chicago area remained mostly wet thru mid afternoon before the snow intensity increased and allowed snow to accumulated paved surfaces. The Chicago area received average totals n the 2-4 inch range. Salting and plowing was needed to clear streets and lots. Temperatures hung in the 28-32 range during the day. The official storm total for O’Hare Airport 2” while Rockford had 4.1”
