STORM SUMMARY 1-7-10
AN AREA OF FLURRIES AND ISOLATED SNOW SHOWERS DROPPED DOWN FROM WISCONSIN INTO NORTHERN ILLINOIS BETWEEN 5-7AM. THE ACTIVITY BROKE UP AS IT PUSHED SOUTH OF I90. TRACE TO A DUSTING MOST AREAS MAINLY ROCKFORD TO CARPENTERSVILLE, ELGIN, BARRINGTON. THE REMAINDER THE AREA JUST HAD SOME SCATTERED FLURRIES WITH TRACE AMOUNTS PRIOR TO 8AM. ANOTHER AREA OF LIGHT SNOW PUSHED DOWN OVER NORTHERN ILLINOIS FROM WISCONSIN IN THE AFTERNOON. SNOW BEGAN FROM NORTH TO SOUTH BETWEEN 1-3PM. AGAIN, SNOW AMOUNTS WERE LIGHT AS AMOUNTS WERE AN INCH OR LESS AREAWIDE. SALTING AGAIN WAS NECESSARY ESPECIALY WITH TEMPERATURES IN THE 17-20 RANGE DURING THE EVENT. THE OFFICIAL SNOWFALL TOTAL AT O’HARE AIRPORT WAS.6 AND ROCKFORD HAD .3
