STORM SUMMARY 1-27-11

A clipper type system tracked a good distance north of the local area on 1-27. The system’s Associated warm front generated a band of snow for the area which began from northwest to Southeast across the area between 7-9:30am. Snow diminished by 2pm for areas north of I88 while It continued later into the afternoon further south. Snow amounts were quite variable throughout the area ranging from .5 to 2.5 inches. Some of the higher totals ended up being over La Salle, Kendall, Will, and Grundy Counties as the band of heavier snowfall sat over those areas longer. . Temperatures during the snowfall averaged in the lower 20s. Salting and plowing was required once again. The official snowfall at O’Hare was .6 while Rockford had 1.2 inches
