STORM SUMMARY 3-2-12
Periods of light rain began 9-11am with rain changing to wet snow between 2-4pm. The northern tier of counties and northwest burbs were able to pickup some quick accumulation mid to late afternoon. The system moved out fairly quickly as snow ended from southwest to northeast between 8-10pm. Winter storm warnings were issued for the northern tier of counties of IL between 3-9pm and a winter weather advisory between I90 and I88. Air temperatures remained above freezing during the duration of the storm and surface temperatures lowered to 32-33 during the snowfall. Officially, ORD only reported a trace while Rockford had 2.9 inches of snow. Salting and plowing was required where the snow managed to accumulate.
