STORM SUMMARY 2-10-12
Light snow began 9-11am. Air and surface temps were in the mid 30s at the onset of the snow and these temps remained their through 1-2pm. Temperatures lowered into the mid 20s between 2-4 pm from north to south. This temperature drop turned untreated wet surfaces into skating rinks and snow began to accumulate on the pavement. Snowfall exited the area 8-10pm except for northwest Indiana. Snow totals ranged from about a quarter of an inch to 2-3 inches in isolated spots. Multiple salt applications were required and in some instances plowing. Amounts were highest near the lake. Officially O’Hare Airport received 1.5 inches while Rockford had .9
