STORM SUMMARY 3-3-2015

Snow, sleet and freezing rain spread into the local area between 4-5:30am.
Precipitation began as freezing rain and sleet along and south of I80 and alternated between the freezing rain and snow till 7am. Precipitation especially from around I88 northward began as snow and mixed with sleet and freezing rain from south to North between 7-9am. Heaviest precipitation was along and especially north of I90 where there were some good snow totals before the changeover to freezing Rain/freezing drizzle and eventually to plain drizzle by midday. Salting was the Main course of action for the south burbs (south of I88) with salting and plowing Further north. Multiple applications of salt was required. To prevent refreezing During the overnight period, some salting was also performed as a preventative measure. Officially ORD had .7 of snow which brought the season total up to 44.3. Rockford had 2.5 inches which pushed the season total to 30.4 Romeoville had .2 and a season total of 31.7
