STORM SUMMARY 2-10-13.

A storm system spread some drizzle and light rain into northern and northeast
Illinois between 5-6:30am. Air temperatures were in the 32 to 34 range overnight till mid morning on the 10th while pavement temperatures ran colder. Surface temperatures between midnight and 2am were around 26 degrees. By the time the precipitation reached the local area, the surface temps rose to 30-31 degrees. The drizzle and light rain froze on untreated surfaces till 9am. A freezing rain advisory was issued for most of the area between 5am and 10am. Pavement temperatures rose slightly above 32 around 9am which allowed freezing rain and freezing drizzle to change to plain rain for the remainder of the day. Many folks decided to do some pre-treatment prior to the arrival of the light glazing. Any surfaces that were not
pre-treated experienced a period of icing.
