STORM SUMMARY 12-23-16
A mixed bag of light rain, snow and sleet fell with this system that began 2-3pm
diminished just prior to midnight. It ended as drizzle many areas for last hour or
two. Temperatures remained between 33-35 degrees for the duration of the event and temperatures even remained there for much of the early am hours on 12-24 before dropping briefly to 31-32 at dawn. Pavement temps hung slightly above 32 for the duration of the event. Most areas only needed to do an application or two of salt. One for the event itself and the other as a precaution for refreeze overnight. There were some inch to 1.5 totals over parts of McHenry and Lake Counties which required some plowing. Officially at ORD there was only a trace Of snow which left the season to date total at 17.7. Rockford had .8 snow and a season to date 16.1. Romeoville had a trace of snow and a season to date total 17.2
