A weakening upper level feature produced an area of light snow over parts of the
The area. Snow began between 5-7pm and the main area of snow diminished
Across the area by 11pm. Amounts were quite variable from one spot to the next
But the average amounts were .5 to 1.5 inches. Only trace amounts of snow fell
over Will and southern Cook Counties. Winds were light under 10 mph and
temperatures were in the upper 20s at the onset of the snowfall and the dipped to 23-25 by midnight. Pavement temperatures were all subfreezing. This was a light fluffy snow and mostly salting was required to clear surfaces. A few isolated spots where amounts were closer to 2 inches may have needed plowing. Officially
O’Hare Airport received 1.4 inches of snow, Rockford .4 Romeoville trace.

Another band of light snow moved slowly across the area during the morning. Salt
That was applied after the earlier snowfall pretty much kept this activity in check.
Also surface temperatures rose above 32 by midmorning which also kept any accumulation on paved surfaces in check for much of the area. Some folks may have gone ahead and applied fresh salt to be safe.
