STORM SUMMARY 1-25-2015
Light snow spread into the area between 6-7am and diminished north burbs by
1am and south burbs late afternoon. Temperatures ran 33-34 degrees at the onset of the snow and temperatures quickly fell below 32 degrees once the snow
Began. The snow itself was fairly fine in nature. Pavement temps initially lowed
To 31 degrees between 7-9am but the pavement temps rose above 32 after 9am through 3pm. There wasn’t much accumulation occurring on the pavement
Most of the day as surfaces were wet. Winds were fairly strong from the
North northeast from 5am through the evening and the winds should have helped
Dry surfaces before the standing water had a chance to freeze evening and night.
Folks were encouraged to check surfaces to make sure no re-freezing occurred. Salting was recommended. Some folks need to push in the isolated 1 inch amounts La Salle County.
Officially ORD had .6 of snow, Rockford .3, and Romeoville .3.
