STORM SUMMARY 1-19& 1-20-2015
A small area of sprinkles and flurries moved through the local are between 8-11pm
on 1-19. Air and surface temperatures were both above freezing during the
precipitation which most areas experienced trace amounts. The Aurora Airport reported .02 DKB .01 There was just enough moisture to wet the surfaces area wide. As both air and surface pavement temperatures cooled overnight. Some freezing occurred. Not so much on streets but on parking lots and sidewalks. Clients were contacted to check their surfaces and salt if necessary prior to dawn to avoid any icing problems prior to the morning commute.
The next round of drizzle and mist developed during the evening hours on
1-20. Air and surface temperatures slipped below freezing much of the area
Early night. The activity produced more moisture north of I88 which resulted
In icy surfaces beginning around 9-10pm. Areas along and south of I88 saw surfaces in most areas remain damp through about midnight. Once again, clients
Were contacted to salt surfaces and monitor for possible ice development after
Midnight on 1-21.
