2010/2011 Winter Forecast
AccuWeather, the national meteorological service, has some bad news for Chicagoans. According to Chief Long-Range Meteorologist Joe Bastardi, the western Great Lakes region, the northern Plains states, and the Pacific Northwest are due for greater-than-usual snowfall and colder temperatures this winter.
In comparison to last year's winter, Accuweather is predicting an increase in weather events and precipitation in those regions, which includes the Chicago Area, leaving the rest of the country to endure somewhat average seasonal changes, as opposed to last year which saw, at one point, snowfall in 49 of the 50 states. The southeast and southwest may even be a little warmer and drier than the previous winter.
