Chicago less than halfway through typical snow season

Going into Tuesday's snowfall, Chicago's 2010-11 snow season tally of 16.8 inches ranked 35th snowiest of the past 126. Still, it lagged last year's 28.3 inch total by nearly a foot (11.5 inches).
Snow records dating back to 1884-85 here show that 37 percent of Chicago's seasonal snow has typically fallen through Jan. 10 leaving 63 percent to go.
